The Arts in Austria

  Austria is known for many of the world's famous opera houses, dances, and music. The capital of Austria, Vienna, is  the center of arts in Austria. There are  many famous opera houses, dance and music schools, and symphony centers located in Vienna, Austria. It is often called the capital of classical music.  In Salzburg, Austria, The Sound of Music was filmed in 1965, and the Von Trapp Family, the family the sound of music is based upon, lived in Austria. The Waltz was also created there.  The waltz is based off a German dance form known as Lander and the Austrians later adapted the dance and form a more popular, more exciting dance.The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has been around since 1842. Before this orchestra was founded, there was no professional orchestra in all of Austria. The VPO brought life to the country of Austria through rich classical music. The Vienna Philharmonic orchestra is not the only orchestra in all of Austria, but it is certainly the most popular and well known.
Many Austrian painters often paint the beautiful mountains and sceneries in Ausria. THe most common mountians that are painted are the Alps, which are a a huge physical feature of Austria. These paintings help to let the world realize how beautiful Ausria is.


Ludwig Van Beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer who was born in  Bonn, Germany in 1770. In case you are not familier with Beethoven, he was a child prodigy who wrote some of the most famous music of all time. He wrote many great symphonies that are very famous and well known throughout the world.He is one of the most famous composers of all time.  He played  many of his concertos and symphonies in Austria’s  State Opera House and in many other places throughout Austria. He died in 1812  in Vienna, Austria.


The State Opera House

  That State Opera House is located inside the heart of Vienna. The State Opera House is a very well known opera house. It is the largest Opera House in all of Austria. The State Opera House does not only house the performances of operas but there are many plays, dances, and orchestra performances there.


The Jaw (Jew) Harp

A symbol that represents music in Austria is the Jaw ( also known as Jew) Harp.  It is a small instrument that is held against the teeth or lips and then plucked with your fingers. It was invented in 1595, and is still used in some Austrian folk tunes and is a well known Austrian instrument.
